What contingency plans, if any, has NZTA put in place to maintain connectivity for East Cape communities and businesses while SH2 through the Waioweka Gorge remains closed?

Hon Chris Bishop

NZTA advises there is no suitable detour route for SH2 through the Gorge. It’s not possible to compile a contingency plan using local roads as these do not provide a connection between Opotiki and Gisborne.
