What consultations, listed by school bus route, if any, has the Ministry of Education held since 2023 regarding the removal or modification of school bus routes?
Answered by
Hon Erica Stanford
Member for East Coast Bays · National Party · Minister of Education
Answer
I am advised that, when undertaking school bus reviews, the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) engages regularly with schools and stakeholder groups to validate student data and support effective planning. However, as reviews are based on longstanding, consistently applied eligibility criteria, the Ministry does not formally consult with schools or communities on school bus route changes. As per my response to written parliamentary question 7325 (2026), following a recommendation from the Ministry, I have agreed to the Ministry undertaking a wide-ranging review of its school transport policy settings.
