Answer

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it currently owns the property at 82 East Street, Hamilton. The property is part of its supported housing portfolio and is a Community Group Housing (CGH) property, typically leased to providers to deliver housing and support services. The previous provider had leased the property continuously since May 1987. The property has been occupied other than periods of time between leases or change of service provider. It has been vacant since July 2025 when the former service provider returned the property due to its funding contract ending. No maintenance work has been carried out since the home became vacant. While the future use of the property is yet to be determined, options being explored include divestment and redevelopment. It is anticipated the decisions will be confirmed in the coming months.
