Further to the reply to question 35324 (2026), will he release the email of 30 July 2026 from the Cabinet Office to his Chief of Staff; if not, why not?
Answered by
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon
Member for Botany · National Party · Prime Minister
Answer
A request for the email referred to would be considered in accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act, however DPMC’s initial view is that the email may be withheld in full under section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Act: the free and frank expression of opinions by or between or to Ministers of the Crown or members of an organisation or officers and employees of any public service agency or organisation in the course of their duty. The content and the details of the Cabinet Office’s advice to the Prime Minister is confidential and it would not be in the public interest to release it.
