Answer

I am advised that the NZ Transport Agency has received the following number of requests for advance purchase or hardship in each of the last five financial years: 2025/26 - 50 requests 2024/25 - 11 requests 2023/24 - 0 requests 2022/23 - 4 requests 2021/22 - 6 requests. NZTA has accepted all requests where the landowners have met the requirements of s185 of the RMA. However, as this information is not centrally recorded, providing the outcome of each application would require officials to review each file. I do not consider this to be an effective use of officials' time.
