What public engagement surveys, if any, have been completed regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, since 27 November 2023?
Answered by
Hon Nicola Grigg
Member for Selwyn · National Party · Minister for the Environment
Answer
The Ministry for the Environment did not undertake any public surveys on the use of artificial intelligence between 27 November 2023 and 30 June 2026. The Environmental Protection Authority has also not completed any public engagement surveys regarding the use of artificial intelligence. I am not responsible for any other departments, agencies, Crown entities, or other bodies. The Member may be aware that I was previously responsible for the Ministry for the Environment. That responsibility ended when the Ministry for the Environment merged into the new Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport (MCERT) on 1 July 2026. Responsibility for MCERT now sits with the Minister responsible for RMA Reform.
