Answer

The one-year transition period before the mandatory standards come into force is subject to consultation. While I am concerned about the potential for unsafe corded window coverings being sold in the interim, I note that many suppliers already sell corded window coverings that are compliant with one of the standards. It is also important that suppliers have adequate time to comply with the new requirements. I encourage families to follow the practical advice for mitigating the risks of corded window coverings provided on the Product Safety website.
