Did the Minister read paragraph 58 of the Regulatory Impact Statement that noted there are "over 1 million corded coverings sold each year"; if so, will the more than one million cord coverings sold in New Zealand in 2026 be subject to mandatory safety standards?

Answer
Yes, I considered the Regulatory Impact Statement. I expect to release an exposure draft of the regulations in the coming months for public consultation, and the regulations will be finalised after feedback is considered. However, based on consultation with retailers of corded window coverings, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment estimates that sixty per cent of corded window coverings already comply with the Australian standard.
