Answer
I am advised that for the 2023/24 financial year 100% of the Ministry of Health’s buildings were powered by electricity sourced from the National Grid. Of those buildings,14% were heated by compressed natural gas and 86% heated by electricity. I am further advised that Health New Zealand does not hold this information historically. However, I refer the Member to the attached table, which outlines the current proportion of energy type used to power and heat Health New Zealand hospital campuses as at 17 April 2026.
