Answer

I am advised that the Energy Competition Task Force is a vehicle for collaboration between the Electricity Authority and the Commerce Commission with MBIE as an observer. To date the Electricity Authority has led 8 initiatives within the Task Force work programme. The total external spend across those initiatives is $1.879 million, broken down in the attached table. This total does not reflect internal costs, such as staff time. I do not hold information about expenditure by the Commerce Commission, which falls within the Commerce and Consumer Affairs portfolio.
