What is the impact, if any, on New Zealand's fiscal position of oil price increases resulting from conflict involving Iran?
Answered by
Hon Nicola Willis
List MP · National Party · Minister of Finance
Answer
It remains too early to determine the fiscal impacts of the conflict in the Middle East. However, a prolonged conflict could impact tax revenue due to lower activity and finance costs. Wider fiscal impacts are also possible through benefits, and any flow-on effects from the conflict on the Crown’s activities and balance sheet.
