Answer

I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that when children or young people need to temporarily stay in a motel, they are usually supported by a partnered service, less frequently by an Oranga Tamariki Social Worker or Resource Worker, or in rare cases, by family members. I am further advised that while security guards are occasionally used to provide an extra level of security and assurance, they should never be solely responsible for the care of children or young people staying in motels.
