Answer

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it does not centrally record this information. Where the tenant disputes liability for damage to a chattel or appliance, Kāinga Ora encourages the tenant to work with them to resolve the issue which may include mediation or the tenancy tribunal. It is not possible to provide this information without diverting a significant amount of staff resources from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time and expense of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest. This is also my response to written questions 7437, 7438, 7440, 7447 (2026).
