I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) reports vacancies as positions (both occupied and vacant) under active recruitment. As at 31 December 2025, there were 273 positions under active recruitment at the Ministry. I am advised that, as at 31 December 2025, Education New Zealand had eight vacancies. I am advised that, as at 1 January 2026, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority had 50.3 vacancies. These included: Actively Recruiting, On Hold or Not Funded vacancies (Permanent and Fixed Term). I am advised that, as at 31 January 2026, the Education Review Office had 12 vacancies.
