Answer
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me the total value of redevelopment write-offs from the 2024/25 pipeline review was $158 million. This reflects sunk costs from early scoping and planning work undertaken on the projects no longer proceeding. This amount was $137.2 million above that budgeted for write-offs in 2024/25. More information on the pipeline review, including why some social housing projects did not proceed is available on the Kainga Ora website: - https://kaingaora.govt.nz/en_NZ/news/kainga-ora-takes-next-step-in-financial-reset/ This is also my reply to WPQ 655 (2026).
