I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) reports vacancies as positions (both occupied and vacant) under active recruitment. As at 31 December 2023, there were 221 positions under active recruitment at the Ministry. I am advised that Education New Zealand does not hold information on how many vacancies they have at any given point. I am advised that, as at 1 January 2024, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority had 47 vacancies. These included: Actively Recruiting, On Hold or Not Funded vacancies (Permanent and Fixed Term). I am advised that, as at 31 January 2024, the Education Review Office had 17 vacancies.
