Answer
As per the MPI Investigation report, on 1 December 2025, at around 3.30pm NZFS became aware, through media queries, of a social media post reporting mould in lunches at Haeata Community Campus. The school announced on its open Facebook page at 2.07pm, indicating an issue with lunches provided to students at Haeata Community Campus that day. At the time, MoE, Compass Group, NZFS and the National Public Health Service were not aware of the issue. A school staff member from Haeata Community Campus found around 20 mouldy meals on 1 December 2025. The school received 343 standard meals and 28 special dietary meals on this day.
