Question

  • What specific speed restrictions, axle-load limits, or service frequency reductions are forecast to be introduced over the next three years as a result of KiwiRail’s deferred renewals, if any, and on which corridors?

Answered by

Rt Hon Winston Peters

Answer

KiwiRail will manage any deferred renewals through increased inspections and maintenance. There are no planned axle-load decreases. KiwiRail has forecast measures for temporary speed restrictions on priority and secondary routes in the RNIP (p50): www.kiwirail.co.nz/our-network/funding-our-network/rail-network-investment-programme/
