Answer

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it completed a time limited Disabled Customer Working Group pilot in June 2025. The group consisted of seven customers with lived experience of disability or caregiving, and its purpose was to amplify lived experience and bring disabled customer voices into the work of Kāinga Ora. The pilot concluded in June 2025 and is now under evaluation. Members were recruited through a national multi channel process, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Selection considered aptitude, location, gender, ethnicity, and disability type. Participants were drawn from Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, and Nelson. To support participation from across the country, most workshop sessions were delivered online.
