Answer
Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that five properties in Auckland with ten or more units have all units vacant or removed from service. Eleven units in Morning Star Place, Mount Albert, have been removed from service and are undergoing major repairs. These units will then be re-let. Twelve units in St Jude Street, Avondale, and 36 units in Blockhouse Bay Road, Avondale will be sold. Kāinga Ora sells properties that are ageing, unsuitable, or in the wrong locations for today’s social housing demands. Revenue from sales is reinvested into the housing portfolio to support maintenance, renewal, and construction of new homes. I refer the Member to the attachment provided by Kāinga Ora.
