Question

  • What advice, briefings, correspondence or other communication, if any, has the Minister received outlining that LNG is a worse climate polluter than coal?

Answered by

Hon Simon Watts

Member for North Shore · National Party · Minister for Energy

Answer

The advice received on climate implications of LNG has been disclosed, as part of the CIPA. It states that the modelling shows that electricity-related emissions are expected to be lower in the LNG import scenario than the status quo, in part due to less coal being used.
