Answer

I am advised that to identify and then collate the location of each person who entered or exited the prison network over the 12-month period requested (and if they were double-bunked at any point) would require substantial collation, something that I am not willing to ask of officials. However, I am further advised that Corrections publishes quarterly statistics on its website, including the location of prisoners and breakdown of double-bunking across the prison estate. This information can be found on the Corrections website for both September 2024 and September 2025 at the following link: https://www.corrections.govt.nz/resources/statistics/double_bunking_in_prisons.
