Answer

Fire and Emergency’s standard reporting covers its Statement of Performance Expectations, performance measures, response statistics, financial performance, incident trends, regional activity and risk. Fire and Emergency also provides fortnightly and quarterly reports on key operational matters, briefings, draft Cabinet paper consultations, media and social media activity, upcoming events and announcements, and significant Official Information Act requests. The reports identify emerging issues and other matters likely to be of interest. I have not always been satisfied with the information and advice I have received. I expect Fire and Emergency to continue working constructively with the Department of Internal Affairs to improve the transparency, quality and consistency of its reporting. I understand Fire and Emergency welcomes this focus.
