Answer

All registered supplies with source water exceeding 50 percent of the MAV for nitrate are required to undertake additional nitrate monitoring. When nitrate levels in treated drinking water exceed the MAV, the supplier and the laboratory processing the sample are required notify the Authority, and the supplier must act to protect consumers of the supply.
