Answer

The funding will be used to manage the size of the sika herd to allow forest canopy regeneration, improve the quality of the herd, enhance hunter engagement, work with Treaty Partners, and programme management. The Game Animal Council's management of the Herd of Special Interest does not include ecological monitoring, which remains the responsibility of DOC.
