Question

  • Will the text of any statement or intervention delivered on New Zealand's behalf at the formal Pacific Islands Forum leaders' meeting on 2 September 2026 be published, and if not, why not?

Answered by

Rt Hon Winston Peters

List MP · NZ First · Minister of Foreign Affairs

Answer

Meetings of Pacific Islands Forum members are, by convention, closed to the public in order to encourage free, open and frank discussion. Decisions taken by Forum members are published at the conclusion of meetings, in this case via the Leaders’ Joint Communique.
