Approximately 40% ($17.5 million) of the $42.8m relates to geotechnical investigation, including all testing and associated professional services. The resulting geotechnical data was provided to all three Respondents during the RFP phase at no cost. This enabled higher quality technical solutions in their final bids. Northway, the successful Respondent, is currently undertaking a further regime of targeted ground investigation work to augment the work carried out by the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA). The costs associated with this further work will be borne by Northway.
