Question

  • What is the Minister's response to the Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission Report (The Legacy of PCP and Dioxins in Aotearoa) findings regarding the human rights concerns and the Crown's apparent failure to address the harms to poisoned sawmill workers and whanau?

Answered by

Hon Scott Simpson

Member for Coromandel · National Party · Minister for ACC

Answer

The report raises matters that extend across several ministerial portfolios and agencies. In relation to ACC, decisions on cover must be made by ACC in accordance with the Accident Compensation Act 2001 and on the evidence relating to each claim. Claims for work-related conditions that develop over time that are not covered by Schedule 2 are considered on a case-by-case basis through the Work-Related Gradual Process, Disease or Infection (WRGPDI) framework.
