Answer
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that through its Community Group Housing and Transitional Housing portfolio it currently leases over 170 properties to service providers with refuge in their name or service description, across the country. Over the last five years, 13 arrangements have ended due to the service provider choosing to end the arrangements and one where the home was being divested following a mutually agreed process to provide a more suitable property for that refuge. Eleven properties were made available again under the supported housing portfolio. Where a currently leased supported housing property is no longer fit for purpose and is proposed for divestment, Kāinga Ora works with the provider on options through this, including identifying another suitable property. This is also my answer to WPQs 39069 and 39070 (2026).
