Question

  • Why were stakeholders informed by email, rather than by public announcement, that the proposed phase-out of PVC, polystyrene and PVdC in food and beverage packaging would not proceed?

Answered by

Hon Nicola Grigg

Member for Selwyn · National Party · Minister for the Environment

Answer

The proposal has not been considered by Cabinet and no substantive policy decisions were made. The Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport provided stakeholders with an update via an official email, which was focused on providing information regarding the timing of Cabinet consideration for the proposed policy.
