Question

  • Which stakeholders, if any, supporting the proposed phase-out of PVC, polystyrene and PVdC in food and beverage packaging were consulted before the decision was made not to proceed with it, and on what dates?

Hon Nicola Grigg

Answer

Officials undertook targeted engagement with more than 30 stakeholders in 2025 to inform advice to me on the proposed phase-out. Between April and August 2026, stakeholders were also engaged to inform the development of an independent cost-benefit analysis. Stakeholder engagement during this period was not undertaken for the purpose of consulting on a decision not to proceed with the proposed phase-out this term.
