Answer
As Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, I have no responsibility for any government departments. With regard to agencies, Crown entities and other bodies under the Science, Innovation and Technology portfolio, I am advised that a total of $8,485.14 was spent on artificial intelligence, including costs on training staff, deploying systems, maintaining subscriptions, and other associated costs in the 2023/24 financial year. This figure does not include any expenditure by the Bioeconomy Science Institute (BSI), which was formed on 1 July 2025.
