Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that the total cost of its redundancies between 27 November 2023 and 1 September 2026 was $25,675,449.45. Included in this total are both voluntary redundancy and redundancy. Additionally, I am advised by the Ministry in relation to the Crown entities it monitors: • Children’s Commissioner: The total amount spent on redundancy processes since 27 November 2023 is $20,365. • Independent Children’s Monitor: The total amount spent on redundancy processes since 27 November 2023 is $54,558. • New Zealand Artificial Limb Service: The total amount spent on redundancy processes since 27 November 2023 is $50,960. • Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB): The total amount spent on redundancy processes since 27 November 2023 is $75,812, comprising external consultancy fees associated with SWRB’s 2025 organisational process.
