Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Education that 368 staff were made redundant between 27 November 2023 and 4 September 2026. The total cost of these redundancies is $17,677,307. Education New Zealand initiated two organisational change processes resulting in redundancies between 27 November 2023 and 4 September 2026. The associated costs were $582,275 in redundancy compensation and $43,362 in consultancy costs. The Education Review Office initiated one organisational change process resulting in one redundancy and one deferred redundancy between 27 November 2023 and 4 September 2026. Given the small number of individuals involved, the associated cost is withheld. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority recorded 25 redundancies between 27 November 2023 and 4 September 2026, at a total cost of $1,189,866.
