Answer

I am advised the Ministry of Education is still finalising its 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026 costs for contractors and consultants, and does not hold contractor and consultant cost data in a manner that allows separation of consultancy costs in the time available to answer a written parliamentary question. Contractor and consultants’ costs up until March 2026 is publicly available on the Public Service Commission website here: https://www.publicservice.govt.nz/data/workforce-data/public-sector-composition/workforce-size. Education New Zealand spent $365,610 on consultancy costs from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. The Education Review Office spent $1.160 million on consultancy costs from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority spent $3,217,019 from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.
