Following reply 36524 (2026), how will "clearer environmental limits" contribute to the reduction of nitrate pollution over time as expected by the Minister?
Answered by
Hon Nicola Grigg
Member for Selwyn · National Party · Minister for the Environment
Answer
The Natural Environment Bill requires environmental limits to be set, and councils to avoid breaching those limits. In cases of a limit being breached, councils must create an action plan that includes how they will bring resource use back within acceptable bounds over time by setting out a path of interim limits.
