Answer

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that 33 projects were assessed as not proceeding in Canterbury. All 212 housing projects were not funded under the Public Housing Plan. Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that Kāinga Ora’s assessment and investment decisions were guided by the Government’s Public Housing Plan, which identifies the locations and scale of need for additional public housing across New Zealand and informs where investment is prioritised, and its own portfolio renewal requirements. As a result, no Canterbury-specific assessment of impacts on the social housing register was undertaken.
