Are recipients of the accommodation supplement having their supplement cancelled solely because they are not named on the tenancy agreement; if so, why?

Hon Louise Upston
Member for Taupō · National Party · Minister for Social Development and Employment
Answer
I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that a person’s Accommodation Supplement would not be cancelled solely because they are not named on the tenancy agreement. Examples of acceptable evidence, if the Ministry requested it, include: • Tenancy agreement • Letter from the landlord • Letter from the person charging the client board • Water rates statement
