Question

  • Has the Ministry of Social Development and Employment sent a form to people receiving supernnuation that seeks information about their assets; if so, what is the purpose of this process?

Hon Louise Upston

Answer

I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that a client receiving New Zealand Superannuation (NZS) only in their own right would not be sent any forms to fill in that request their asset information, unless they meet one of the exceptions addressed in my response to written parliamentary question 37796 (2026), or if they also apply for or receive additional assistance on top of their NZS. There is a wide range of supplementary assistance offered by the Ministry, which each have different requirements. More information about other types of assistance and what information they require is available in the following link: www.workandincome.govt.nz/products/a-z-benefits.
