Answer
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that, as at the date of the Member’s question, the property was still subject to a commercial process and that the date and final sale price will be released in due course. As the matter relates to a specific property and individuals, Kāinga Ora is limited in the level of detail it can publicly provide because of its obligations to protect personal privacy. The property was tested prior to it being listed for sale. The testing identified contamination above the relevant threshold, so specialist contractors completed remediation work. Decontamination occurred over several stages before it received its decontamination certificate. Kāinga Ora provided information about the property's history and the remediation work to the listing agent, and that information was made available to prospective purchasers through the sale process. This is also my response to WPQs 36347-50(2026).
