What review or post-implementation evaluation of the Overseas Investment (National Interest Test and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2025, if any, has been undertaken or is planned, when will it report, and what monitoring, if any, is being undertaken of outcomes against the projections in the regulatory impact statement for that Act?
Answered by
Hon David Seymour
Member for Epsom · ACT Party · Associate Minister of Finance
Answer
The Amendment Act came into force in March of 2026. This means that data that could be used to identify changes in consent volumes, or in the nature of the transactions to which they pertain, is still limited. Treasury will continue to monitor the impact of these changes, and the regime more generally, as part of its stewardship of the Act.
