Answer
The Queenstown Package Stage 1 is under construction and includes the SH6/SH6A Frankton intersection and bus hub improvements and the SH6/Howards Drive intersection upgrade. The Queenstown Package has a budget of $250 million and a February 2028 completion date. NZTA has advised me that other current or planned work includes the Jim’s Way shared path bridge, also known as Pūāhuru Bridge, a 50-metre pedestrian and cycling bridge over SH6 that is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and has a budget of approximately $12.6 million. Further Queenstown Package stages have been designed but are not currently funded for construction. These include Frankton Flats, Ladies Mile and SH6A corridor improvements, with future funding to be considered through the 2027-30 National Land Transport Programme. In addition, the Queenstown Strategic Network Plan has been endorsed by the NZTA Board and will be used to identify high-priority activities for the 2027 State Highway Investment Proposal and National Land Transport Programme processes.
