What are the implications for Queenstown if, as the Queenstown Lakes District Mayor John Glover has stated, all currently identified transport interventions are delivered and the transport network still fails?

Answer
The Queenstown Strategic Network Plan found that forecast population and visitor growth is significant and that congestion is expected to remain on parts of the network over time. The Plan identifies a long-term pipeline of interventions, including high-capacity, efficient and reliable public transport, demand management measures, targeted highway capacity improvements where feasible, and a future second crossing of the Kawarau River, the exact form of which is yet to be determined. The Plan is intended to guide future investment decisions and priorities through Regional Land Transport Plan and National Land Transport Programme processes as funding becomes available.
