Answer

The Official New Zealand Pest Register (ONZPR) is updated with regulated pests on the publication of a new standard. The Ministry for Primary Industries also operates an emerging risk system that considers new evidence about a pest and whether it should be regulated. The timeframes for updating the ONZPR depends on the level of urgency indicated by the new evidence.
