Question

  • Will the Electoral Commission review the electoral changes passed in December 2025 and their impact, if so, when?

Answered by

Hon Paul Goldsmith

List MP · National Party · Minister of Justice

Answer

The Electoral Commission (the Commission) must report on the administration of the general election in accordance with the requirements of section 8 of the Electoral Act 1993, which includes a review of the services provided to electors to facilitate voting, and enrolment and voting statistics. I am advised until that reporting is completed the Commission will continue to release enrolment statistics during and after the election period. The statistics released after the election and will include a breakdown of the ordinary and special votes disallowed by electorate, and analysis showing the reasons why special votes have been disallowed which may indicate impacts of electoral changes.
