Has any Chinese ministerial or official visit to New Zealand planned for the remainder of 2026 been altered, deferred, or cancelled since 29 July 2026; if so, which, and in what way?

Rt Hon Winston Peters

Answer
No dedicated visits to New Zealand were altered, deffered, or cancelled. A multicountry trip visit by a Chinese Vice Minister for Ecology and the Environment, which included a programme in New Zealand en route, had been scheduled to take place in August 2026. We were notified that this travel, including and therefore New Zealand, had been postponed on 31 July. Our understanding is that all legs of the travel were postponed, not specifically a visit to New Zealand.
