Answer

I am advised that Auckland Transport previously stated publicly that approximately six-to-eight weeks’ public notice would be given before the City Rail Link opens. Just under six weeks’ notice was given when I made the announcement on 6 August 2026 for the opening day on 13 September 2026. I am advised that Auckland One Rail is required to give notice to unions and staff to support preparation for new timetables. The public announcement was made once delivery partners had sufficient confidence in the opening date.
