Answer

The former Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (now part of the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions & Transport) undertook cost modelling of different maximum repayment timeframe (MRT) options, including a six month, 9 month, and 12 month MRT, as part of its advice to the Associate Minister of Housing. The cost model was reviewed by Te Ara Ahunga Ora – Retirement Commission. This cost modelling, data inputs, sources, and assumptions are set out in the Ministry’s Regulatory Impact Statement.
