Answer

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). NEMA was previously hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) from 27 November 2023 to 24 September 2025. In my capacity as the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery I am not the Responsible Minister, the Prime Minister and Minister for Internal Affairs are the respective Responsible Minister for the Vote. I therefore refer the Member to the Prime Minister’s response to PQ 26577 (2026) and the Minister of Internal Affairs response to PQ 34769 (2026).
