Is the Northway consortium's expectation that around 60 per cent of total physical works spending will flow through local supply chains a contractual obligation, how is "local" defined, and what consequences, if any, apply if that level is not achieved?

Answer

There are no contractual obligations placed on Northway in relation to the extent to which it utilises local supply chains. The definition of ‘local’ in the Request for Proposal was ‘within 100km of a business depot or site office’. NZTA anticipates approximately 60% of providers and suppliers to Northway are New Zealand-based entities and providers.
